Change register with the Venice Lagoon
During the interminable weeks of the "coronavirus" epidemic, also Venice and the lagoon showed unusual, unknown and often surprising features.
Not only the absence of the tourist masses in Piazza San Marco, or the chaotic traffic on the Grand Canal, but also the incredibly calm lagoon waters, not tormented by the hysterical crossing of the waves caused by the traffic of motorboats, and the clean air, without the acrid smell of burnt diesel. Something more and different besides the absence of large ships in the San Marco basin and in the Marittima: the transparency of the waters of the canals, the rediscovery of their habitats of different species of animals, with the grazing of ducks in the Grand Canal, or the presence of unusual fish species in the waters of the city and the lagoon.
We couldn’t believe ours eyes.
